How to Easily Make More Online Content

One of the biggest challenges that businesses run into when trying to build their online and social media presence is creating enough content to fill each month’s editorial calendar.

How to Easily Make More Online Content

There is a straightforward and easy principle that can help you create more graphics, images, videos, and blogs so you can continue connecting with your community and building your audience without stressing about where you are going to find all the inspiration for your content calendar.

Repurpose the content that you’ve already created.

The first step in repurposing content is to audit all of the ways in which you are already creating content as well as the type of content that’s being created. This should be both an internal and external audit.

Externally you’re looking at your social media channels, your weekly or monthly newsletter, and even the physical marketing materials that you’re using. Gather all these files in one place to look over what you have available already.

Can any of the copy or images you’ve already utilized in a newsletter be transferred to your Instagram account? Can those be transferred to a flyer you post up around town?

Now, you may be thinking, “What can I use internally?” Think about all of the ways that you communicate with your team. Do you have a daily or weekly meeting with your team to talk about culture or planning?

Do you send out an email to remind your team members about company values or priorities?

Well, you or a team member can look at this internal content and break it down into short, meaningful phrases or sentences and that can be useful content! You may notice a recurring theme in the things that are said in meetings or emails.

You can use that mantra as a way to bring your customers into the fold of your culture. If your weekly team meetings don’t have sensitive information then record them! You can share snippets or a quote from your Monday meeting and buy yourself (for free!) a day of content that you don’t have to worry about.

Everything can become something else.

Say These Sentences Over and Over

Video can become audio. Video can become graphics. Video can become a blog.

Graphics can become video. Graphics can become audio. Graphics can become a blog.

Audio can become video. Audio can become graphics. Audio can become a blog.

A blog can become a video. A blog can become graphics. A blog can become audio.

Here’s how:

Let’s talk about maximizing what you already have. For example, if you make a video speaking about your company values or everything new that’s coming up at the end of the year, that one piece of content has the potential to be repurposed in multiple ways.

Have a team member transcribe what you said and you instantly have a blog post with a little editing. That video can also be posted to social media as it is or you can take a quote from it to create a powerful image or graphic on Canva.

Another idea is to separate the recorded video into several different clips and turn a single video into five or six shorter videos. With a little ingenuity, one becomes many. Short videos can do well on Instagram.

The same idea can be applied to any type of content. I’ve seen people give speeches and use the two or three main points to make into several podcast episodes. One blog post may have multiple quotes that can be used as graphics or captions.

The Key

Repurposing old content into something new is a key to creating consistent content across all your social media platforms. Focus on what you do best, create your visuals or blog posts around that, and don’t worry about what it can become later.

If you create a quality piece of content, it can surely be repurposed. The passion you have for your business will shine through will a little editing and recycling.
